I have always dreamt of a romantic holidays for two in Venice. Beautiful Venice with its narrow streets, ancient architecture and palaces, canal trips by gondola, the lovely Murano glass shops….. One day I will be booking my ideal romantic holiday to Venice! But I keep forgetting that I have already been there! Not with my boyfriend though, instead with my father and his partner! Sharing a room with my brother! A family trip! Of course the romance was there from day one, arguments between my father and his girlfriend, my brother snoring next to me…
I had the chance to explore the canals and bridges on a gondola, but it was rather scary (probably because my brother weighed too much), funny (seeing all sorts of “items” coming out of the walls when people flush their toilets) and later rainy. St Mark’s Square was flooded, we had to cross it via tables that were put out for people to pass.
My brother and I got lost in the residential quarters and the Murano glass vase I brought home as a present was not appreciated. However, I was compensated by founding a 50 € note in the Marcus Cathedral.
Well, I will be looking out for some cheap flights to book as soon as possible my perfect holiday! In one of the world’s most romantic and charming cities: Venice!
