The Eiffel Tower - Paris
There are around 6million people a year who ascend up the Eiffel Tower, and it is certainly one of the most well-known attractions within Europe. The tower was erected for the Universal Exhibition of 1889, and was the largest building in the world until 1930, when the Chrysler Building in New York was built.

The Grand Canal - Venice
The city’s most prominent feature is its waterways, and it is the Grand Canal that travels through the cities centre. The Canal is generally busy with a number of boats, and the embankments of it boast rows of spectacular palaces that date from the 13th Century onwards.

Musée du Louvre - Paris
This is the world’s largest museum, which contains the world’s most important collection of both art and antiquities. Alongside the magnificent collection the building itself is something to behold, as it was once France’s largest royal palace.

Acropolis - Athens
This is known as the crown jewel of Greece, and has also been referenced also as the jewel of Europe. The temples here are some of the most influential buildings throughout Western Europe, and it is not hard to see why they are so revered.

Sagrada Família - Barcelona
This church has become one of the synonymous with Spain, and is synonymous with the enduring symbol of the city and its Modernist legacy. Gaudi designed this church, which pierces the skyline of Barcelona with its eight pointed spires, although the other four spires have never been built.

Reichstag - Berlin
This is the most prominent symbol of German history, and is one of the most visited. It was redesigned between 1997 and 1999 and now boasts a large egg-shaped dome on the top. From there you are able to see right across the city to the many other well-known attractions.

Anne Frank Huis - Amsterdam
Het Anne Frank Huis is probably one of the most moving places within The Netherlands, if not Europe. The Frank’s were a Jewish family escaping the persecution of the Holocaust, and this was their hiding place. However, they were discovered and arrested and sent to their deaths at various camps. Anne Frank wrote her diaries whilst in hiding, which were later given to her father who had survived the Holocaust. The Diary of Anne Frank has now been translated into many different languages and is widely read throughout the world.

Vatican City - Rome
The Vatican City, a tiny city-state, is home to the Pope. As well as having an impressive exterior the Vatican City holds a museum, a large church and also one of the most amazing paintings ever created; Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Pompeii & Herculaneum - Italy
This is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, and comprises of a whole culture that was caught in still life. When Vesuvius erupted around 2,000 years ago the whole lava explosion caused the city of Pompeii to set in stone quite literally. Archaeologists have dug away at the city and have found everything remaining as it was, including buildings, people and animals.

Basilica San Marco - Venice
This is the fairytale cathedral of Venice, which is essentially pure Byzantine. Its exterior and interior have been embellished with stunning mosaics and exquisite works of art through the ages.
