Default Staying Safe on Holiday – but still having fun!

Follow some of these simple tips to help you stay safe on your holiday:

• Get to know the area before you go – find a useful website or a guidebook. Learn the areas to avoid as well as the places that are going to be enjoyable!
• Do not show off your wealth, and try not to look like too much of a tourist – you could put yourself in danger of looking vulnerable.
• Learn some of the local phrases and questions – for those times when you get lost, need a taxi or have to find the nearest restaurant.
• Avoid dark places at night, especially if you don’t know the area.
• Dress appropriately for the culture, and if you don’t know what to wear, be conservative with your dress.
• Stay clear of drugs – drugs can be more dangerous in another country, and it can be the way of turning a hot holiday into a holiday nightmare!
• If you are planning any big nights out on holiday, make sure you go out with reliable friends. So, if you get lost or need help, you will be safe with people you know.
• If you are going to be driving on your holiday its best to check out the local laws as well as what documentation you may need for driving and hiring a car in that country.
• Whilst driving around your destination make sure you have your driving licence and documentation at hand, you never know when you might need it.
• Whilst there make sure you never carry all your money and credit cards around with you. Most hotels have safes within the rooms or behind the reception desk. They normally charge a small fee, but it’s better than losing all your valuables and money.
• If you don’t think you will need all your credit cards, bank cards and cheque books – leave them at home.
• Finally, just stay alert – be vigilant of anyone who looks suspicious and stay away from dark areas that you do not know. Just be cautious – don’t get too worried, follow these hints and enjoy yourself on holiday!

Let us know if you have any tips!

Red face Really Useful

These tips are really useful and important if you are travelling to an unfamiliar country. Its especially important if you are travelling on your own.

I have been to some places in which I have felt uncomfortable whilst in unfamiliar areas, so its a really good tip to stay safe and to keep within the areas you know. The best idea is to go on holiday with a friend and stick together - its far more fun to share your holiday experiences!

When traveling by car in another country always lock the doors from the inside. Sounds trivial, but there are so many incidents.
