Rome
This historical Italian capital dates back to the Roman Empire, and was once the home of the Caesars, gladiators and the legions of the ancient Romans. Today however, it is only the relics of this ancient city that survive, such as the ancient coliseum. Rome is a very lively city that has sophistication and a vibrant Italian atmosphere. This atmosphere can be felt from the grandeur of the Italian opera to the small, traditional Italian restaurants that serve authentic pasta dishes. The roads throughout the city are busy, and are lined with sports cars and Vespa scooters, which speed past.
Every city break in Rome must include a visit to the famous Spanish Steps, that are a stunning work of Baroque artistry, which lead down to the Piazza Navona and the magical Trevi Fountain. Rome is well-known for its romance and its enchantment, and the beautiful architecture of the Renaissance and the historical presence on every corner makes Rome a perfect place for a city break.
A visit to The Vatican City and the Pope’s Vatican is a once in a lifetime opportunity, as is the magnificence of the Sistine Chapel. The artwork on the chapel by Michelangelo is stunning, and after viewing this you must also visit the ancient Roman Patheon and the early Christian Basilicas.
Rome has a never-ending atmosphere, which is stunning and interesting, and the city’s romance is also ever-present. As the centuries pass by Rome will always stay the same.
